The true ‘Essence’ of Essential Oils

Isn’t it amazing that we can find multifunctional uses for natural products found in our environment?  Essential Oils have multi functional purposes of smelling great, treating fungal infections, and helping you sleep.  They are concentrated extracts from plants, through a process called steam/water distillation, by pressing parts of the plant such as flowers, bark, leaves or even fruit.  Here the essence of the plant is turned into a liquid form, or oil.  There are so many functions of Essential Oils, such as lifting your mood, helping with headaches and sleep.  Aromatherapy is the practice of using essential oils for therapeutic purposes, and has been used for centuries.  When inhaled, the scent travels from the olfactory nerves to the emotional center of the brain.  Essential oils can also be absorbed by the skin to help relax tight muscles.

The safest way to use essential oils is by mixing them with carrier oils such as olive, jojoba or coconut oil, that works well in being massaged into the skin.  Although there have been known occurrences of allergic reactions to these oils, if you use them moderately since they are in the purest form, there should not be a problem.  We have tried to combine our essential oils in the best manner possible, using only the purest forms with the appropriate carriers.

  • Lavender essential oil is used by many as a relaxing scent.  Often used to relieve stress and anxiety, it is also known to promote good sleep.  I have smelt a lot of Essential Oils, and it’s no wonder why Lavender Oil is extremely popular.  It is anti-bacterial and has calming and sedative properties to help people relax.
  • Grapefruit essential oil is cold pressed or steam distilled as well.  The oil possesses a pleasant, sweet, citrus aroma.  This oil is known to be wonderfully energizing, but is not too strong or overpowering.  Grapefruit Oil can be used in mornings or at times when you are trying to combat feelings of fatigue.  Also, it is beneficial for oily skin and acne.
  • Eucalyptus essential oil has multiple benefits as well.  It is very well known for its pleasant aroma that complies with therapeutic properties.  I love this oil because it just soothes the sinuses, and is known to benefit for bronchitis, colds, flu, asthma, as well as menstrual cramps, headaches and fatigue!  This phenomenal essential oil is used for aromatherapy, minor aches and pains and has a fresh clean scent.
